What additional elements are need to convert a carbohydrate into a protein?
Q. Please after you answer this question above can you answer this; Where do you think plants get these elements from? Thanks.

A. Carbohydrates only have carbon, oxygen and hydrogen. Proteins additionally have nitrogen and sulfur (as well as in some cases phosphorus and cesium). Plants probably get the nitrogen from nitrogen-fixing bacteria in the soil (unless they're nitrogen-fixing themselves, in which case, they'd be able to convert nitrogen in the air to ammonia). Sulfur and phosphorous are usually in the soil.
